The last meeting of the Centre’s Programme Advisory Board for the 2020-2024 term of office

On June 20, 2024, the last meeting of the Centre’s Programme Advisory Board for the 2020-2024 term was held in the Dutch Studies Library. During the meeting, the board updated the Centre’s regulations following the division of the Faculty of Letters and elected the Centre’s new Coordinator. Various projects and activities planned for the new academic year were also discussed.

The Centre’s Programme Advisory Board unanimously approved the candidacy of dr hab. Katarzyna Biernacka-Licznar, prof. UWr as the Centre’s Coordinator for the upcoming term.

The Centre’s Programme Advisory Board sincerely thanked the previous Coordinator, dr hab. Irena Barbara Kalla, prof. UWr, for her enormous contribution to the Centre, which she led for two statutory terms.

Since 2014, our team, which initially consisted of 9 members, has grown to 22 people, including 15 members and 7 associates.

The Centre organized two conferences and seven seminars and was involved in several projects, including international ones. The Centre welcomed many international guests who gave lectures and conducted classes for students of the University of Wrocław, as well as interns from the Netherlands and Spain for stays of several months. Members of the Centre have jointly produced numerous publications, including in high-profile international journals and collections, and have prepared one of the reports in the framework of the description of the impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy, thus significantly contributing to the positive evaluation score of the scientific disciplines represented at the Centre.

In addition, the prestigious “International Voices in Children’s Literature Studies” lecture series was constituted, featuring dozens of scholars of children’s and youth literature and culture from around the world, from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Australia. Recordings of the lectures are available on the Centre’s YouTube channel. The lectures will continue.

The Centre’s exemplary website, which is maintained in two languages, contains documentation of all the activities carried out at the Centre to date and the achievements of its members.

Today, we are one of the world’s leading centers for research on children’s and young adult literature.
